I just discovered a stellar website:

These old fashioned recipes, from late 1800’s to the 1920’s, were collected by the author’s Grandma McIlmoyle. Her grandson describes her as follows:

“Grandma worked long, hard days as a pioneer rancher’s wife near Airdrie, Alberta. She watered cattle, groomed horses, forked hay, and tended her large vegetable garden. She also had to quickly prepare hearty, delicious meals for her hardworking husband and nine hungry children.”

So fabulous! I couldn’t ask for a better culinary role model. I’m off to try some desserts… Happy cooking! *Erika
